This plugin isn't available in the BTCPay Server marketplace yet (only on GitLab for now) but the Second.Tech team did a walkthrough at the recent Bitcoin Prague conference.

I've set up BTCPay Server for a website a couple of times and it is still pretty complicated if you want to do lightning payments. Luckily there are a number of solutions coming along that look to make this quite a bit easier.

Do you run your own LN node?

Not at the moment. I was running phoenixd for a while and before that an LND node, but right now I'm not running either.

Imagine going through all the hassle to setup a BTCPay server and not bundle a Lightning node with it
