What was a dystopia in 2008 now looks quite similar to our current reality.
The people on the Axiom spaceship ignore each other and their surroundings because they stare at floating screens all day, every day. In our reality, we massively and excessively use our phones for everything, even for no reason at all, just to scroll or look at our photo gallery literally anything to avoid seeing what's around us. Tablets, televisions, computers, extended reality headsets everything I've mentioned creates dynamics of isolation very similar to those in the film.
All the similarities really scare me. We're sedentary now, we isolate ourselves, we don't think; critical thinking has died along with curiosity, because it's easier for AI to "think" for us.
We don't have floating chairs for now, but we do have comfortable gaming chairs while we're isolated in a dark room, watching a screen and ordering food for delivery.
You don't need to get up from your chair to turn off the light; just saying "Siri, turn off the light" is enough. It gives me goosebumps.
We don't need to be at home to isolate ourselves; just go to a restaurant and observe how everyone is ignoring each other. Leave the house for a while and you'll see how we all have our heads down looking at our phones.
We estimate that nearly a third of adults globally (31·3%; 1·8 billion) were insufficiently physically active in 2022, an increase from 23·4% (900 million) in 2000. Approximately half of all countries and two-thirds of the regions had increasing trends in insufficient physical activity prevalence, the opposite trajectory to that needed to meet the 2030 global target of a 15% relative reduction in prevalence from a 2010 baseline. Female individuals were more likely to be insufficiently physically active than male individuals, a disparity that showed marked regional and national variability. Prevalence increased steeply among adults aged 60 years and older, but with geographical and sex differences in the age patterns for adults younger than 60 years.

They're memes, but they only show the irony of reality
This resonates very strongly. everywhere I look, we're looking at our screens and not moving. don't quite know what will change this.
the rock-bottom is different for everyone; it's both an embarrassment and a blessing to get to & start at rock-bottom; unfortunately, too many do not get second chances, since the killing dynamics have become very advanced;

Not me. I lost 15lbs the last few months.
Are you exercising? If so, great!
A combo of more physical work, moving, eating mainly veggies and fruit, little meat, and removed all soda.
What a success! Congratulations!

TLDR; u are probably eating parasites everyday; parasites munch on whatever their human is munching on, and brief hunger is basically a signal of distress by the infestors, whose objective is to survive & totally control their host by any means necessary; a total cleanse while still interacting with parasite-infested society is extremely challenging, and gets harder the longer one appears "different from the average;"
