We out here writing our butts off! #1512861
I managed to sneak in a Fuck-The-Boomers comment (kisses to @siggy47!)...
Over the last four decades or so, there’s been a monumental shift in the composition of household wealth, meaning, for instance, that households (older households, let’s be honest; hashtag screw the boomers) have ridden a property bubble and become much more exposed to the fiat price of properties more generally.
...and some insults to the suitcoiners shitcoiners:
The suitcoiners are this cycle’s shitcoiners. I shed zero tears for their demise and will be joyfully dancing on their graves.
Speaking of demise, mainstream financial media is having a blast over how poorly the DATs or BTCTCs or “bitcoin treasuries” are doing. Even Strategy, the arch-nemesis, is faltering; its main perpetual preferred equity, STRC, as well as its most recent rival in Strive’s SATA, have broken their “pegs” quite substantially, trading well below the targeted $100.
Here’s Nicholas Tsakonas reporting for Dagens Industri, the Swedish equivalent of Financial Times or Wall Street Journal. (The article headline called the treasury companies “bitcoin hamsters,” with the implication of “hoarding.” That was fun. That was innovative.)
As I mentioned in the stand-alone Satoshi-talks post, there were some pretty good monetary econ convos involved:
The panel session at Litteraturhuset offered an hour-plus conversation about money printing and inflation, and is well worth a listen (if you speak Norwegian…or, you know, general Skandinavisk). What surprised me was the incredibly high-level conversation about money printing and what (new) money does in the modern economy. It was basically a crash course in monetary economics with some Bitcoin-relevant aspects added.

...is pretty exhaustive, but luckily, the stackers had an advance notice, so they won't be swamped!
The Escorts Cashing in On the AI Boom: These pretty erudite and well-educated companions (let’s call them…) to Silicon Valley’s latest elites make me think I’m in the wrong line of work. Definitely the wrong industry, too. But I’m having fun staying poor. #1507003
Wanna Work in Bitcoin? Trust me, or in this case, Totally Human Writer, you don’t. His piece “So You Wanna Work in Bitcoin…” lays out the literal shit we endure and the relative hopelessness of our professional venture. Have fun staying rich in the fiat mines. #1513929
That Surprising Lyn Incident: I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a Lyn Alden fan. I love her work, and I edited her book Broken Money. But I don’t particularly like fiction books (possibility space is infinite, deus ex machina everywhere), so hold me astonished when The Stolguard Incident not only grabbed me but had me staying up til two in the morning reading. The way her dystopian, hyper-technological/surveillance-state future so casually includes bitcoin and cryptography is wonderful. Highly recommend. #1512950
