It was a scorching afternoon. My eyebrows furrowed as I groaned in dismay at having to get my fourth graders to do a writing project on sunflowers. As I scanned through the instructions sent by my colleague, my mind drifted back to that fateful day when I marvelled at the glorious sight of vibrant sunflowers at a Japanese farm. Instantly, my mood was uplifted.

My mood was immediately lifted too this is beautiful 🌻
I’m glad to hear that!
Even on tough teaching days, nature saves us.
a salvation of the soul

indeed
Ah Sun-flower! weary of time,
Who countest the steps of the Sun:
Seeking after that sweet golden clime
Where the travellers journey is done.
Where the Youth pined away with desire,
And the pale Virgin shrouded in snow:
Arise from their graves and aspire,
Where my Sun-flower wishes to go.
--William Blake.
