Preamble:Preamble:

I am not interested in bitcoin necessarily being the center of art. Art must be good first, in the service of truth, not some propaganda meant to brainwash me into believing bitcoin is the savior of humanity. However, the communities interested in bitcoin seem to overlap on some common themes.

If we study humanity deeply, truth emerges. Truth about the good and bad. Fiction is an avenue for this type of study.

Today, Dystopia feels ever more present in the here and now for some. Corruption is rife in the world and creates chaos. Anarchy opens up an archaic world of possibility, imagination and humanism. Speculation about the past and future are both worthwhile pursuits when the present becomes increasingly unbearable.

For better or worse, bitcoiners are very problem-oriented (see ~math) and the imagination, in my view, can be a salve for the most damning of problems.

My question then is, Do bitcoiners have an imagination?

My hope is--yes, a tepid yes.

All submissions will be responded to, in public, by me. I will put in as much time and attention as I feel is warranted by your piece. If you post AI slop, I may or may not respond. If it is obvious to me your piece received your time and attention, then I will give it mine. I will do so in a separate post, where 100% of zaps will be forwarded back to you. There is no other bounty than this.

This will be ongoing and month-to-month I will compile and pieces in my newsletter. Highest zapped posts will be recgnized and celebrated (will count forwarded zaps in totals, as per above terms).

I'm using Stacker News fiction competitions to get out a story that's been milling around in my head for almost 10 years lmao, I'm so lazy

...big if true

reply

Very cool! Is there a time frame you'd like us to adhere to? Or since this is a long going project, if it takes me until past May to post, I'll just be among the June posts? :o

reply

It is really loose. Every month I'll try to tally the entries and keep an ongoing index. No hard deadlines.

reply

Lezgo. I'm in!

Nice! I hope this whips my creative juices into shape

reply

Me too. Lately I have been turning up a little dry.

reply

Sounds fun.

I want it to be. Counting on a few regulars for some initial contributions, and hopefully I can add some value with my glosses/ commentary.

I guess the hard part is putting your work out there, knowing it will be read and commented on. Hoping this is appealing to some, though.

reply

Last year's fiction contest was pretty popular and got a lot of submissions.

reply

Love it. Hope to contribute.
