It's generally about AI, not AGI specifically. His point is the hype exceeds reality, and that AI will never progress past mathematical limitations that were discovered by computer scientists in the 1960s. Basically, it will never be more than a useful tool.
The video takes this paper out of context to argue that LLMs are fatally flawed. The paper merely establishes a complexity bound based on the floating point operations a model is capable of beyond which they begin guessing. AFAICT all that it demonstrates is that LLMs do not defy our theories of computation (e.g. P != NP).
Will LLMs only ever be "tools?" idk. Are LLMs sold as more than tools? Certainly. Does this paper prove LLMs will only ever be tools? No.
Sadly, I don't think the youtuber knows what they are talking about.
can't watch the video because it asks me to sign in to confirm I am not a bot. whatttt. bad google. I will never sign in LOL.
I can imagine that the say LLMs are not really intelligent or something like that. nobody lied. it was all well known. but the path towards AGI and ASI keeps going. maybe it is a totall different path but it is unstoppable now.
This is what I heard from a dev I know who's an AI critic: Your excitement about AI is inversely proportional to your knowledge. And there have been a lot of people very excited about AI for a long time.
order followers plugged into AI be like...

What's the TLDR; Is it against AGI or AI? AGI is nonsense. It's hype and theoretical at best.

Yeah... I don't disagree. But the hype is stupid. AI is a serious tool that is transformational

I'm with you in that I won't sign in either. It seems to depend which device I use and where I am geographically whether it's required or not.
