There are a bunch of new crypto casinos launching (even Magic Eden launched one called Dicey), and more and more traditional online gambling sites are starting to accept bitcoin.

Given how popular prediction markets have become and how fast online gambling is growing as an industry, it's not surprising, but I am surprised to see people gambling with bitcoin.

I get stablecoins since fiat loses value anyway but I am a bit surprised people are using Bitocin as a rail to gamble.

Got any examples where Bitcoin is being used?

Maybe we don’t have an answer! I know coinpoker.com, they accept Bitcoin and other shitcoins, but they convert it to their own currency when you deposit, I think their currency is worth 1 dollar!

https://www.americascardroom.eu also. I remember back in the day to withdraw I would have a check mailed to me from some polish bank. it would take so long that the second you got it you had to cash or deposit it immediately because it would expire soon.

they’ve accepted bitcoin for a long time now , on chain only, and the deposit/withdraw phases are so smooth now.

also https://swcpoker.club they even denominate their chips in bitcoin! Your stack their on the site is subject to bitcoin price action. ACR however they just convert to USD right when you deposit

Why did people started using gaming for gambling? Gaming used to be used for computer games...

Not sure it's related to this specific post but in general, game dev studios realized that adding gambling (lootboxes) and gambling-adjacent patterns boosted revenue for their shareholders

If you’re making a bet that won’t be realized for several months or more, it’s better to make it in bitcoin.

The same bet made in fiat will payout less in real terms because the money will have depreciated.

Crypto casinos growing fast, but I’m surprised people are willing to risk their Bitcoin instead of holding.
