I was listening to some episodes of Richard Sherman’s podcast and he always asks former players about the best defenses they have seen.

So let’s roll back the clock to the beginning of the millennia and pick which defense has been the best since 2000?

Baltimore Bullies (Ravens 2000)33.3%
Baddest on the Planet (Buccs 2002)0.0%
Blitzburgh (Steelers 2008)16.7%
Legion of Boom (Seahawks 2013)33.3%
No Fly Zone (Broncos 2015)0.0%
The Darkside (Seahawks 2026) 16.7%

Ray Lewis!

I think that’s the one but Bucs were pretty amazing too. All of these were great. If you like DB play then probably the legion of boom.

Those are my top two but I agree with Blok, those Ravens were the best

Ravens and Bucs had mediocre at best QB play and still won. Broncos and Steelers had great QBs and Russ was really good at that time with the Seahawks. I think Darnold fits in at 4th best QB in this group.

So I think that should be a factor as well.

The bucks with Brad Johnson had some decent talent.

For the Ravens it was Jamal Lewis who was good for a few seasons but I doubt he made All Pro.

That Ravens defense was unreal all before Ed Reed came at that!

Jamal Lewis was my favorite RB in Madden '01

Was that the Madden where it was super easy to run? I remember one iteration of the game where you could easily run for 500 yards a game. Maybe it was earlier than that.

Are you thinking of Technobowl? I heard Bo Jackson was literally unstoppable in that.

My memory is not good enough to pick

Understandable. It’s hard to compare teams 10, 15, 20 plus years apart. The game has changed a lot too.
