It occurred to me that a great way to protect information generated by an AI agent used by the military/government could be the SHA-256 cryptographic hashing algorithm.

Hash the output made by AI into a TXID (doesn't even have to be information made by AI, could be any kind of data), and broadcast it on the blockchain. The receiver would know it is authentic because the transaction was sent using a unique private key.

Only problem is un-hashing the data, I haven't worked that out yet. Maybe they found a way to do it.

I think I have a pretty good understanding of how Bitcoin mining works, but I am always open to hearing where I may be mistaken. I have had a hunch that the military is using Bitcoin for awhile now, just can't quite put my finger on it.

mmm... I think you are confusing things a little bit to much.
As far as I know, SHA-256 hashing is one-way only. so, you can’t “un-hash” data.
The idea of using Bitcoin as a verifiable timestamp layer is reasonable and I believe it has already somehow been tested. The “un-hashing” part is where the concept and your plan breaks down.

I acknowledged there is no known way to un-hash data. Im suggesting its possible, or they have figured a way to hash using a key, giving them the ability to un-hash.

Its totally theoretical, and in my opinion, would explain the massive amounts of money going into AI and mining infastructure/development.
