Thank God no one was killed, besides the attacker, and the only injury was a member of the security team who was hit by the car and went to the hospital for treatment. It sounds like that person is fine based on the police saying that there were no injuries.

The suspect breached the facility by driving in through the doors before engaging in gunfire with security. The car caught fire after "something ignited" inside, and the suspect was found dead in the vehicle. It's unclear exactly what the cause of death was at this time.

Bomb dogs and technicians are currently clearing the car.

The targeted Synagogue also holds a preschool where there were kids at the time of the attack, and it would have been catastrophic if the attacker had been successful. This is a huge place of worship as well.

Temple Israel of Bloomfield, Michigan, calls itself "the nation’s largest Reform synagogue," accounting for 1% of the entire Reform movement in North America.

About 3,500 families comprise the 12,000-member congregation that was first organized in 1941, according to the temple.

Scary how quickly this could have turned catastrophic with kids in the preschool. Security response clearly made a difference.
