My boys were playing a game outside where they stomped on the end of a shovel and tried to catch the handle as it pops up. Unfortunately, in this game, if they missed the handle, it whacks them in the face -- and this is exactly what just happened.

That simply means you didn't play it with enough challenges. Ranging from only allowed to use your weak hand, to going full Luke Skywalker and trying it blindfolded.

Bonus points for trying it on a garden rake, so your foot is in danger too.

In my childhood, I was convinced the shovel could be used as a catapult. Not that convinced, apparently, as it was my younger brother, not me, who ate the yoyo and lost his teeth.
