mostly it's an accessibility and security feature being nixed. hardened long time ux is a security feature. without it that's going to introduce third party programs that'll reduce the hardness of the software.

the fact that any of this needs explaining to these apparant gigabrains is madenning.

As I said in my OP, my main wallet is Bitcoin Core, and I frequently use the GUI. I do so for many of the reasons you reference.

However, if it is the case that not many people are working on the GUI, it's not like we can compel them to work on it. I certainly don't want to be using features that are no longer being actively reviewed. So I have some sympathy for the argument being put forward by Poinsot.

It's the old problem of who is going to pay for wallet development. Or in this case GUI development for my node.
