I wonder if there is a literary character most associated with this archetype. I wanted to say Cassandra, who is the archetype for the prophet who is helpless to prevent disaster, but I don't know if the elements of wisdom and disillusionment are built into her story.

Sort of the opposite of the "boy who cried wolf"
