How I would typically interpret those statements,

Free Speech = Something you "do"; an action you perform directly or via technology

Freedom of Speech = A "right" or "law"; something your society permits you to do without enforcing property seizure / violence / etc.

So I'd say SN is option #1, it's a technology I use to post regardless of if it's "legal" (#2) in my jurisdiction or not.

you are close...
free speech = you are allowed to speak, is a permission that is free, not paid, gratis.
freedom of speech = is a right that nobody can take it from you, maybe only forcibly

In this particular case SN fall for almost none of them because YOU PAY TO SPEAK and you fall for their T&C. You signed a contract.

I'd say since I don't control the server I have only to trust the man who does to honor the T&C. No one can take away my freedom to speak but myself by keeping my mouth shut.

I have said for decades that if people want to say something unpopular they should get their own site and publish it. Don't beg the state to use force to make someone publish your ideas.

Many times I talked people out of having comments on their blogs...

I would warn them of the hassle they would deal with. Some listened. Others had to learn their lessons the hard way.

My response to them was always. If people want to respond to your press release or blog post... let them get their own web site and link back to yours.

There are laws and rights and there is power and control. These days people seem to live in a lala land where they have forgotten about power and control. They have forgotten they traded their liberty for a little peace and security.

reply

I said none of them, damn it! From your response, it sounded like I was wrong!

reply

but you didn't explained why.

reply

Fuck’s sake! Do I gotta explain everything? I’m so done with this shit! ahahah

reply

that's why you will never really understand how this fucked up world function...
This was just a test, an exercise.

reply

Don't exaggerate!

speech has become a way for the ancient parasite to propagate itself thru utterances by mouth of hosts; theoretically, complete elimination of the parasite wud also eliminate the urge to verbally discharge the parasite spores, especially thru enunciation of consonants; consider the idea "freedom from speech;"

communication in general is limitless, encompassing text, signage, speech, dance, and even telepathy;

SN is a technological tool - maintaining flexibility among various communication methods & platforms preserves the ability to resist total control by the parasite hivemind;

ultimately, the open-source permissionless systems shud be used for verification & reliability of message transmission;

Neither

reply

I dunno! Some territories are moderated, so I’m not sure if they can nuking posts and comments.

reply

it's a very simple question. Is not about what SN could do. Is about how do you see it: 1 or 2

reply

You can tell from my answer it's neither of them!

reply

that means you do not know the difference between 1 and 2. You have much to learn. You are not ready.

reply

I don't get how you're seeing it like that. To me, 'freedom' is more about gov laws, like, it's a legal thing.

reply

wrong. I though you know something but you are really worse...

reply

What's wrong?

reply

freedom is not something that comes from a gov...
