I was just about to share a link in the ~hyperlinks territory but I saw that it was a dupe post from back in 2024.
I would like to re-share the content, but I feel like I’m breaking some sort of stacker news/Internet forum etiquette.
Should I just re-share a duplicate link that was shared years ago? Or should I create some sort of a post that linked to the original post?
Maybe just add [RE] in the title if is something old from years ago.
I think is ok to repost stuff that is quite old, to refresh readers memory.
Dupes are more when was just posted hours ago or weeks ago.
For hyperlinks specifically, will be nice to have an option to search inside territory for a link. Using the territory like a bookmarks repo.
I like the [RE] syntax.
I’ll use that and a number of other recs in this thread.
I usually do my own write up and then link to the original post and forward some sats.
There are too many good links that get shared and never get any attention to let etiquette stand in the way of sharing a cool link.
Just reference it if you like. Not sure if anyone on SN really minds as long as you're writing your own perspective on it.
Personally I prefer to write a small blurb about what I am linking rather than just posting a link.
For now, I like this option best.
We'll allow zaps to resurface old posts eventually, but this is the best we have for now.
IMO go ahead and make a dup post. If you want, you can also reference the old one or forward your zaps to the OP.
