Someone will make PodTok and it will be awesome.

  • auto-clips the massive free audio archive and plays one after an other
  • allows me to search, but only to express interests in speakers and subjects
  • only has three buttons
    • forward, pause, back
  • learns what I like as I go
  • forward gives me a new, more divergent recommended clip
  • back continues playing where the last clip left off
  • if a clip ends, it give me a convergent recommended clip

Tech problems are well scoped:

  1. needs dirt cheap and fast:
    • transcription
    • auto-clipping and classification
  2. recommendation system

You're early. Right now GPU isn't cheap. It will be though after all those data centers are built and oracle figures out they're sitting idle. Wait 18 months and woop. In the meantime I'll let my old M1 host whisper and we can get started at ~5x audio speed

oh wait, wasn't there a tool for this I read about somewhere?

Chatting with that founder yesterday is what inspired PodTok.

No but I think I'd like PodTok.

My favorite podcast listening experience is watching youtube clips, which doesn't make any sense and suggests podcast and podcast clip discovery are broken.

reply

Clip discovery definitely makes sense. No one wants to listen to an hour podcast or hour video to get the one piece of information they were looking for.

And let me take this opportunity to complain about how gaming guides have all gone from text-form to video-form, and it's much harder now to actually find a comprehensive searchable guide to a game because of that

I am already tired of so many podcasts... everybody talks about the same things over and over and after that they invite each others talking again about the same things.

TOTALLY WASTING TIME.

That's why I want a system that finds the good stuff for me

reply

that "system" will be like trying to patch human idiocy.
We need to fix the cause not the result.

It's easier to build a citadel than fix the city

sometimes is better to just blow all the things behind and start fresh

sounds like a suggestion to run with the Great Reset... again! how many times will that nightmare have to repeat itself, just to wake up again and again and say "ah shit, here we go again!"

base-consciousness condition does not have to remain, it can be transcended with enough intelligent power & laser-eyed focus;

your original podcast interviews are very inspirational - even legendary; did the parasites wear you down?

Here, start with some epic tunes:
