🎂 Bitcoin’s First Transaction Turns 17

On January 12, 2009, the first Bitcoin transaction in history took place.
Satoshi Nakamoto sent 10 BTC to Hal Finney — not for commerce, but to prove that a peer-to-peer monetary system could function in the real world.

Hal Finney later recalled that he mined Bitcoin using a regular CPU, at a time when everything was still a pure experiment:
