Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said he may entertain the proposal when asked whether gambling earnings could eventually become exempt from federal tax.
“We have no tax on tips, we have no tax on Social Security, and we have no tax on overtime,” he said. “No tax on gambling winnings, I don't know. I'm gonna have to think about that.”
That should be a NET POSITIVE to US Economy!
Any move involving gambling taxation would touch a significant portion of the U.S. population. Data from the American Gaming Association shows nearly 60% of American adults have gambled in the past year, with 30% visiting a physical casino and 21% placing sports bets.
I wouldn't have guessed that more people go to casinos than do online sports betting.
I'm for any tax cuts for any reason, but there's not much conventional justification for exempting gambling of all things from taxation.

Justification is Trump, haha.
I agree not all things are good for the overall good of society. Some must be discouraged. India has put an outright ban on betting and gambling very recently but that's only increased illegal ways, nothing much.

no capital gains would solve all these problems

But the government does tax tips social security and overtime. It depends on the wages of the earner and other conditions.
Once again Mr Trump saying things that aren’t true. Wait… isn’t the president supposed to be reducing the deficit?
