Low-wage work remains widespread across the United States. Even as the labor market continues to expand, wage gains have been uneven, leaving millions of workers earning less than $20 per hour, which is roughly $41,600 annually before taxes for full-time work.

Shouldn't this take into account cost of living though? I assume cost of living in Mississippi is way cheaper than a place like California. Perhaps ppp is useful

this chart is only for folks making under twenty bucks an hour. Doing what you said wouldn't make sense. That'd be a whole other chart, and it wouldn't show what this one's trying to show.

Miss and LS have always been the bottom of the barrel in income levels historically, but that's crazy to see a third of Texas and Florida with their numbers in that category.
