Was with my daughter at the playground when I saw a group of preschool teachers and students spreading their groundsheet and tucking into their bento lunch. This won’t have happened in Singapore. We are a hot and humid country and have been conditioned to seek refuge from the sun in air-conditioned places. Even the halls of some educational institutions are air-conditioned. Yes, I know. We are a pampered lot.

picnics are fairly common here in LA... the weather is pretty much good for it year round

Not really formal picnics but in the summer we will often pack some food and go hang out by the lake with the kids. It’s kind of like a picnic.

Kind of reminds of the fact I haven't done a picnic in almost two decades. Kids grew up and never went back. Probably should do it a few times this summer on a lazy weekend.
