I never thought I’d be writing this and a week ago, I definitely didn’t think I’d be jamming (still am!) to Rosalía’s new album Lux.

It dropped about a month ago, and I was utterly surprised, in the best way possible. She sings in 14 languages (!), including Spanish, Catalan, English, Ukrainian, Italian, Arabic, French, Japanese... and more. But that’s not even the most impressive part, the real shock is how good she sounds and sings in all of them.

Her voice is front and center throughout the album, pure and powerful. My personal favorites are Reliquia, Divinize, and Mio Cristo Piange Diamanti.

Before this, I had only listened to Motomami and Chicken Teriyaki which are... let’s say, peculiar so Lux really caught me off guard.

The album glides between IDM, opera, and even Fado (yes, she sings in Portuguese, too!). Björk makes an appearance, and the production is rich and cinematic.

Honestly, it’s a tight, beautifully crafted album. Don’t wait as long as I did, give it a listen. You might be just as pleasantly surprised. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
