As an electric sedan driver (Tesla Model 3), this is very interesting. As @grayruby mentioned, I too also assumed Americans simply preferred larger vehicles and that there was not enough appetite for compact cars like the Honda Fit – but your post makes a lot of sense. Coming from the UK I grew up with cars like the VW Golf, the Peugot 205 etc, so even a sedan is bigger than I'd typically like. Only very rarely do I wish I had an SUV or truck for packing more stuff – a long road trip for example. Regrdless, the whole landscape is going to change dramatically in the coming years as autonomy goes mainstream. Legacy auto have no answer to autonomy or manufacturing EVs profitably, and as such they will face a struggle to survive in the decade to come. -Tom
