Happy day after OpenAI DevDay!
Hey who remembers this from three years ago?
"Revenue sharing is important to us," said @sama.
Hey Chat, how much revenue has OpenAI shared with its developers over its lifetime?
Zero? Zero. How important is it to you?
This was the motivating factor for me after DevDay 2023. I knew they were going to half-ass this marketplace of revenue sharing. I didn't know they would no-ass this and do zero dollars.
But we said let's do an open version of this.
Now look, both them and us, we've had some fits and starts trying to figure out how to launch this.
OpenAI is now taking another crack at it, and what perfect timing because we're going to do that too.
@thsottiaux says, "We are opening up our platform and you can now build full native apps with plugin extensions, and ship them right in ChatGPT."

Happy day after OpenAI DevDay!

This was the motivating factor for me after DevDay 2023. I knew they were going to half-ass this marketplace of revenue sharing. I didn't know they would no-ass this and do zero dollars.
But we said let's do an open version of this.

OpenAI is now taking another crack at it, and what perfect timing because we're going to do that too.
@thsottiaux says, "We are opening up our platform and you can now build full native apps with plugin extensions, and ship them right in ChatGPT." Bla bla bla
Look at the comment of Tibo's post:
"Two questions: can apps charge users directly (subscriptions or one-time) inside ChatGPT, and what's the revenue share? And can we link out to our own checkout, or is it ChatGPT payments only?"
"Can we charge for them?"
"Can those plugins be monetised by the creator?"
"So we can build and sell via an OpenAI store?"
No response to any of this of course.
Guys they're not building for you. They're building for these guys, their enterprise partners.
They're building to get these people more revenue from you.
OpenAI, the open obviously is opening your checkbook to build their revenue.
Imagine a process of what this should be that's not hostile to developers.
So let's make Demetrius here happy: "What is different between now and the past attempts at this? My previous experience with submitting apps/extensions has been horrible."
"Oh yeah we're going to make human review process more efficient now."
No, you shouldn't need to ask anybody's permission.
This should be running on decentralized, permissionless protocols that are open.
Hey we have a thing called Nostr. And just to give you a preview of our implementation of all this, we have these protocol specifications for everything little thing that can go into a decentralized open marketplace of plugins contributing to open agents.
You don't need to worry about all of the particulars of this, but if you are a developer and you want to start interacting with this ecosystem literally today, you can just go read these NIPs, point your agents at these NIPs, build implementations, participate in an open marketplace now.

What we are doing for this next, aka tomorrow, is taking our three years of R&D, couple side quests, MVPs, our learnings, our explorations, and mushing them all together into our real, final, full product:
A desktop and mobile app. We're just calling it OpenAgents, version 1.0.0.
We'll launch this tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Noted....These guys are tough, not giving their developers a little money
