I woke up to see this and other mention of Clancey in that crazy shitcoin zapfest quote. FYI, I don't downzap as a rule, and I haven't tried to censor the Clancy story from my territory. It's weird there hasn't been a mention, now that you bring it up.
Personally, I haven't followed it too much. I was a criminal lawyer for more than 35 years. For some reason I never wanted to watch or read about trials in the news. I don't know why. I still have never watched a single episode of any of those Law and Order shows.
I'm also very biased. I was always a defense lawyer representing people being attacked by the government. I have seen the lies and bullshit that goes on, just like in any government bureaucracy. I can't help but look at it from a defense lawyer's perspective. In New York that case would have been settled with a plea to some lesser included offense which would have involved jail time and or mental health confinement.
That being said, the system worked here. One juror was pretty powerful.
