As I kept having more questions about where the project is going I made a roadmap for bitcoinbackbone, that is scheduled to cover this year 2026 and a bit beyond.

Without surprises, priorities will be focus on testing and quality assurance. While the main subsystems are in place, it’s not time to give the priorities to add more test coverage, do the heavy work of test coverage.

The good news, after few tests, a lot of what has been nurtured by bitcoin core in terms of test coverage can be directly reused, tweaked or draw learnings on what should be tested. I’m still doing more conclusive experiments on this, especially what can be automated with ai tooling (doesn’t spare you the review time). In terms of quality assurance, there is no necessarily a need to reinvent the wheel.

We have a mailing list for the ones who wish to follow the development:

For now, it’s just a lot of shut up and do the quality assurance work in terms of roadmap.

This looks like a massive undertaking! I’m still learning the ropes, but it’s really cool to see the focus on quality and testing right from the start. Keeping an eye on that roadmap!
