I've seen it discussed before, but I don't know how to find the post.

What happened to the Spiritual territory?

At the bottom of the territory dropdown, click/tap create and it'll take you here: https://stacker.news/territory.

~spirituality was archived when the founder didn't wish to keep it.

what are the benefits

Mainly that you can create space for you and others to discuss something you're interested in without having to be concerned about the long tail of low quality content that such a space would attract elsewhere. Meaning you can have an online community without also becoming a fulltime moderator. It's not zero or easy work to create a lively territory, but it doesn't require the burnout inducing reactive work of moderation.

Otherwise, financial benefit has not materialized in a repeatable way yet. Unless you can attract many people to SN, or SN grows independent of you, you should not expect to recoup the cost of a territory on any short timescale. Territory founders get 70% of what's spent on posts, comments, and boosts in their territory, and 21% of zaps.

As an owner of a couple of the net positive territories, the benefit is still pretty much entirely the ones you describe.

We're still a long ways from being able to earn a meaningful amount of one's income by running a territory.

I appreciate your agreement with the response; it helps me to understand. Perhaps you could give some insight into what "meaningful" means. Perhaps a range of gross income/hours spent would be helpful.

Are there any guidelines or rules of what I can and cannot say about SN to promote it?

Sorry, I don't have time to read all this.

Can someone moderate a new Spiritual Territory and just charge 22 sats per post.

I'll pay whoever does it for me (because I pay everyone)

If you own a territory you become a true cowboy 🤠
