2025 was a year where it felt like many of the Bitcoin eugoogleyists had given up, and some even come round a little. This gave me a somewhat nervous, sick feeling in stomach. Afterall, the only thing Bitcoin has to offer is censorship resistance. If the suits have come to like it, it makes me worry I've misunderstood something.

So, imagine my relief upon seeing tweets like these today:

We have once again returned to mocking of Bitcoin. I eagerly await their pronouncements on the terminal nature of Bitcoin's trajectory. I am making popcorn for the next ripple-funded Greenpeace campaign.

"The snail is on the wing and the lark on the thorn - or, rather, the other way around - and God is in His heaven and all right with the world.""The snail is on the wing and the lark on the thorn - or, rather, the other way around - and God is in His heaven and all right with the world."

Seems silly to wait for them to do it... just look at price as validation of the idea/thesis. We are not winning

reply

depends on how you define winning. 2025 was the first year I got paid in bitcoin by an employer. I use lightning daily. I can send sats to anyone on earth who generates an address. I can buy a few more things with bitcoin than I could in years past. I'm paying for a few things regularly with sats now.

I'd be disingenuous if I said the dollar exchange rate didn't matter at all, but it matters about as much as it mattered 6 months ago when it was at $120k (a price I considered unbelievably low for 100 million magical internet money units).

how did it feel having a post-payment debasement?

reply

it hasn't taken the jelly out of my donut. still feeling pretty chuffed about the deal.

reply

had to look up the word "chuffed" LOL!

I also learned "conniption" today. English is stupid.

reply

how did you go to Oxford and not know "conniption"? Seems like a perfectly common word used by the English gentleman/gentlelady

reply

I grew up like a peasant in the barbaric reaches of American suburbia...and still heard "conniption fit" here and there.

reply

It must be one of the worst languages on Earth.

Are you talking about SN?

Sometimes I feel like SN is the only place people who use bitcoin as a MOE congregate.

There is a lot going on outside of internet...

reply

Is there???
Where can ordinary people use sats on daily basis that supports the growth and development of the LN?
WHERE?
SILENCE.
For most people here on Stacker News is the most accessible place they can use LN P2P every day.

SNs has build a sats centred social media community at some effort and expense but you @DarthCoin refuse to attach your LN wallet.

You claim to be living on the Bitcoin Standard yet you refuse to use sats on the most obvious platform in fact you admit accumulating shitcoin CCs and selling them for sats thus encouraging the debasement of the Stacker News BTC circular economy.

You are a blatant hypocrit.
Attach your wallet/s or continue to be called out for your hypocrisy.

reply

No. I was working for a wallet in the early part of 2025.

Is that roasbeef?

reply

Agreed. Purchasing power is telling you that we are not winning.

This seems to tell the entire story of what people have decided is valuable to them:

Marketcap added in the last 5 years

Gold: +$22.5 trillion
Silver: +$4.9 trillion
Bitcoin: +$1.1 trillion

I’m also sure they all think bitcoiners are too stupid to know what eugoogulies are anyway.

Gold! Finally a goalpost I can get behind. At least it can't be created out of thin air.

A new class of strong men quickens.

Think not of 5 years but of a decade hence. Sound money will have its reign!

Imagine being mad at math. Also, it's worked out pretty good for me. I don't see what the problem is here.
